The FINEX process is an innovative, next generation iron making technology to produce pig iron directly using iron ore fines and non-coking coal rather than processing through sintering and coke making which had been essential to traditional blast furnace method.

Because the preliminary processing of raw materials is eliminated, the construction of the FINEX plant costs less to build than a blast furnace facility of the same scale. Furthermore, it is eco-friendly in that it produces less pollutant than traditional methods.

POSCO E&C has constructed not only the first demonstration plant but also commercialized facilities of the FINEX plants through technical collaboration with POSCO and SIEMENS VAI. POSCO E&C is the only and sole company in the world that has experiences of constructing FINEX plants.
