| Coke is produced from coal carbonization in cokes oven and used for producing melted iron in the blast furnace.
Coke Oven Gas (COG) generated during the coal carbonization becomes clean gas after removing any impurities and harmful materials depending on a certain temperature and pressure in the gas refinery plants.
Clean gas with about 4,300 kcal/N m³ of calorific value is stored in the gas holder of the steelworks and is then supplied as the fuel gas to many plants of the steelworks.
POSCO E&C renders the services of engineering, procurement, construction
and commissioning for the coke oven and gas refinery plants based on the
experiences from the steelworks in Pohang and Gwangyang.
