| As soon as the company was founded in 1994, it simultaneously
established the R&D Center in order to secure the world-class
technological competitiveness and help advance the domestic
E&C industry. In addition, cutting-edge research labs and related
facilities were built on the 45,000-pyeong tract located in
the city of Giheung, Gyeonggi Province, in 1999, opening up
a new chapter in terms of high-tech development. |

EPC and sets up a master plan based on the corporate-wide technology
development strategy in order to cultivate its core competence
in fields where the company has comparative advantage over rivals
in other advanced countries. The company, which is the very
foundation of new technology, offers the comprehensive technology
development plan, while helping combine the research functions
of POSLAB, RIST, POSTECH and other POSCO Group units. The efforts
are designed to improve research quality and boost technology

in steelmaking, environment, power generation, engineering and
construction fields. In particular, it helps enhance technological
