Special Story

Climate Crisis Savior,
The Nuclear Power
Story of POSCO E&C

The Foundation of Industry

PLANT EPC NOMAD,

POSCO E&C

POSCO E&C is expanding the horizons of its
eco-friendly Plant EPC business beyond steelmaking,
power generation, and petrochemical plants into
secondary battery materials, hydrogen, and
nuclear power initiatives.

Nuclear power harnesses
energy inherent in atomic
nuclei
without combustion,
yielding high-density energy.

With the growing consensus on carbon neutrality and overcoming the
climate crisis, RE100(Renewable Energy 100%) and CF100 (Carbon
Free 100%)
has appeared in the international community and garnered
significant participation and interest from various global corporations.

'Carbon-free' in CF100 includes renewables energies such as wind,
solar, hydropower, and nuclear energy.

'Nuclear power' is not only an eco-friendly energy source with low carbon
dioxide emissions, a key contributor to the climate crisis but also a highly
efficient energy source capable of providing a large amount of electricity
with a small amount of fuel.

Brief Knowledge 01.

RE 100

(Renewable Energy 100%)

Companies procure or
self-produce 100% of their electricity
using renewable energy sources.

Brief Knowledge 02

CF 100

(Carbon Free 100%)

Companies supply 100% of their
electricity using carbon-free energy
sources, including nuclear and
renewable energy.

POSCO E&C's Journey to
the Heart of 'K-Nuclear Power'

As the first private construction company, POSCO E&C participated in pre project engineering (PPE) of the Korean-designed integrated nuclear
reactor (SMART) and has consistently laid the groundwork for commercial nuclear power business by successfully constructing extensive accelerator
facilities, including the Pohang 4th Generation Synchrotron Radiation Accelerator and a heavy ion accelerator, utilizing nuclear power.
